Right around the end of the fifties college students and young people in general began to realize that this music was almost like a history of our country – this music contained the real history of the people of this country.

  • 1. Our Age of Anxiety is in great part the result of trying to do today's job with yesterday's tools and yesterday's concepts.

2 Amazing

  • 3. I know some of my parents' friends think 'Little Britain' is in incredibly poor taste. But swimming the Channel? You can't really say anything negative about that can you? There's nothing better than making your parents happy. The glee on my father's face that day was amazing.

3 Anger

  • 1. A little anger is a good thing if it isn't on your own behalf if it's for others deserving of your anger your empathy.
  • 2. Always write angry letters to your enemies. Never mail them.
  • 3. Revenge is often like biting a dog because the dog bit you.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. The bonds of matrimony are like any other bonds – they mature slowly.
  • 2. Last week the House of Representatives passed a resolution honoring the victims and heroes of September 11th. As we commemorate the anniversary of 9-11 we must also remember that the threat is still very real today.
  • 3. Actually the year anniversary of what you just heard my son Grahame and I are going to be in a play together and I'm acting for the first time in front of an audience that doesn't consist of a high school drama class.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Architecture starts when you carefully put two bricks together. There it begins.
  • 2. But after the time there I'd had it with fashion again so I left to go to architecture school in a summer course at Harvard which didn't last very long.
  • 3. I probably spent the first 20 years of my life wanting to be as American as possible. Through my 20s and into my 30s I began to become aware of how so much of my art and architecture has a decidedly Eastern character.
