1 Age

2 Amazing

  • 1. When I was little I saw the play 'Les Miserables' on Broadway I thought it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen.
  • 2. I don't know if it has set in or not. Honestly it's crazy. It's such an amazing honor. I remember thinking back to being in my room waiting for the call to see if I got the part. It's like winning the lottery. I'm proud to be a member of such an amazing cast – that's the best award of all.
  • 3. My mother is an amazing woman. Not only did she manage the entire household she noticed a gift in each of her kids and instilled confidence in all of us that that gift would take us wherever we wanted to go.

3 Anger

  • 1. The reason why I love people and writing about them is because they don't always respond with hate and anger. If they did I wouldn't have a story to tell. Who wants to know about someone who was brutalised and became brutal? I'm interested in the exceptions.
  • 2. Anger if not restrained is frequently more hurtful to us than the injury that provokes it.
  • 3. I was a pretty angry kid and I got into military history largely as a way to vent my own anger. As I got older it narrowed down to a more specific focus on individual violence. I'm just trying to understand where it came from.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. I've been sober for two-and-a-half years My children are happy. In August my wife and I will celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary. My band is back together with a sold-out tour.
  • 2. I've been in love with the same woman for forty-one years. If my wife finds out she'll kill me.

5 Architecture

  • 1. To provide meaningful architecture is not to parody history but to articulate it.
  • 2. You might say that when you step inside you're entering a honorific space but that's something totally different than experiencing it. And in architecture the experience comes first. That has the deepest effect on us.
  • 3. I left science then I went into art but I approach things very analytically. I choose to pursue both art and architecture as completely separate fields rather than merging them.
