1 Age

  • 1. No no I was only funny on stage really. I I think I was funny as a person toward my classmates when I was very young. You know when I was a child up to about the age of 12.
  • 2. There are a lot of downsides to being male. We age faster and die younger. But give us this: we're lifetime baby-making machines. Women's reproductive abilities start to wane when they're as young as 35. Men? We're good to go pretty much till we're dead.
  • 3. I like to be alone so I can write. But focus can hurt you. I don't want to be some stress casualty in early middle age.

2 Amazing

  • 1. Half a century ago the amazing courage of Rosa Parks the visionary leadership of Martin Luther King and the inspirational actions of the civil rights movement led politicians to write equality into the law and make real the promise of America for all her citizens.
  • 2. The amazing thing is that I'm sane. I'm not bitter. I'm not drugged out. I'm not broke. I'm still married to the same guy. My children don't hate me.
  • 3. If Martin Scorsese calls I am available. And then there the ones well you can just run down the list – any of those Oscar-nominated films they have amazing directors across the board.

3 Anger

  • 1. I guess lyrically they're similar because they're talking about escaping the kind of misery that likes company. 'The Last One Alive ' for me is very simple. It's just about alienation really that causes anger.
  • 2. I understand Tea Partyers' anger with the system but they are in way over their heads and often racially motivated and I can't be part of that.
  • 3. But one of the hardest things for me to do was to access anger. I could do it on stage. But when I did it on film it was hard for me. That probably has to do with the intimacy of film. And my own personal issues with expressing anger. So I had to learn how to do that.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. One should believe in marriage as in the immortality of the soul.
  • 2. This anniversary serves to help remind the American people that in the wake of one of the greatest political scandals and misuse of power in our history as a nation scandal produced important reforms that served this nation well for two decades.
  • 3. I've been sober for two-and-a-half years My children are happy. In August my wife and I will celebrate our fifteenth wedding anniversary. My band is back together with a sold-out tour.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Don't clap too hard – it's a very old building.
  • 2. Each new situation requires a new architecture.
  • 3. Yet for my part deeply as I am moved by the religious architecture of the Middle Ages I cannot honestly say that I ever felt the slightest emotion in any modern Gothic church.
