1 Age

  • 1. I remember when I was 6 years old and my brother used to go seek out guys that were 13 to come over and play football against me while he was the 'permanent quarterback.' I didn't know exactly what the age difference was but I was already playing against older guys.

2 Amazing

3 Anger

  • 1. My recipe for dealing with anger and frustration: set the kitchen timer for twenty minutes cry rant and rave and at the sound of the bell simmer down and go about business as usual.

  • 3. I was very fortunate to play sports. All the anger in me went out. I had to do what I had to do. If you stay angry all the time then you really don't have a good life.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I'm often called an old-fashioned modernist. But the modernists had the absurd idea that architecture could heal the world. That's impossible. And today nobody expects architects to have these grand visions any more.
  • 2. People can inhabit anything. And they can be miserable in anything and ecstatic in anything. More and more I think that architecture has nothing to do with it. Of course that's both liberating and alarming.
  • 3. All real education is the architecture of the soul.
