The fact that we are I don't know how many millions of people yet communication complete communication is completely impossible between two of those people is to me one of the biggest tragic themes in the world.

People break down after a couple of hours. All the defenses go down and there's a kind of communication that if I spent 20 years in a living room with one of these people I would never never know as much about them as I do in that one day.

It's about communication. It's about honesty. It's about treating people in the organization as deserving to know the facts. You don't try to give them half the story. You don't try to hide the story. You treat them as – as true equals and you communicate and you communicate and communicate.

Strange about parents. We have such easy access to them and such daunting problems of communication.

1 Age

  • 1. It is with an old love as it is with old age a man lives to all the miseries but is dead to all the pleasures.
  • 2. Never say never but the thought of electively cutting oneself is beyond my grasp and I also object to it politically. Denying the lines on our faces makes a comment about age and wisdom I don't care to make.
  • 3. 'Dallas' hit a chord back in the late Seventies and Eighties because it was the age of greed: here you have this unapologetic character who is mean and nasty and ruthless and does it all with an evil grin. I think people related to JR back then because we all have someone we know exactly like him. Everyone in the world knows a JR.

2 Amazing

  • 1. I have those songs as well. It depends on what I'm going through in my life but I'm a huge fan of Bjork. Sometimes I get so emotional because she's so amazing.
  • 2. What I've enjoyed most though is meeting people who have a real interest in food and sharing ideas with them. Good food is a global thing and I find that there is always something new and amazing to learn – I love it!
  • 3. The best days I have are usually days where I'm out in the woods and something happens like I see an amazing animal like a fox or I get a glimpse of a wild pig or something that I never see. Or crazy things happen.

3 Anger

  • 1. Take the high road. No matter how much strife and consternation frustration and anger you might be confronted with – don't go to that level.
  • 2. As a culture I see us as presently deprived of subtleties. The music is loud the anger is elevated sex seems lacking in sweetness and privacy.
  • 3. I think a certain amount of anger has been a fuel of mine if you want – but also some sort of sadness and plain mischief of course.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. So while an incredible amount of progress has been made on this fifth anniversary I wanted to come here and tell the people of this city directly: My administration is going to stand with you – and fight alongside you – until the job is done. Until New Orleans is all the way back all the way.
  • 2. And this year is going to be the 25th anniversary of the 17-0 team the only undefeated season.
  • 3. We can't forget what happened on May 4th 1970 when four students gave up their lives because they had the American constitutional right of peaceful protest. They gave up their lives. And to sing that song in that spot on that anniversary was very emotional for us.

5 Architecture

  • 1. All real education is the architecture of the soul.
  • 2. I studied architecture in New York. So really I was very moved like everyone else to try to contribute something that has that resonance and profundity of it means to all of us.
  • 3. Each new situation requires a new architecture.
