5 Architecture

  • 1. For many years I have lived uncomfortably with the belief that most planning and architectural design suffers for lack of real and basic purpose. The ultimate purpose it seems to me must be the improvement of mankind.
  • 2. I see architecture not as Gropius did as a moral venture as truth but as invention in the same way that poetry or music or painting is invention.
  • 3. What is being called the UN 'gender architecture' is more like a shack. Women need a bigger global house if equality is ever to become a reality.
