Yale places great stress on undergraduate and graduate teaching. I like teaching and I do a lot of it.

I'm not retiring. I am graduating. Today is my graduation day. Retirement means that you'll just go ahead and live on your laurels and surf all day in Oceanside. It ain't going to happen.

1 Age

  • 1. When you're my age and you see a story you better go for it pretty quickly. I'd just like to get a few more novels under my belt.
  • 2. It's not always possible to sit down and eat at home in this day and age of fast-paced living but if you are going to eat out do so as a family and support all the great local places in your areas. I'll still eat at the same diner I did as a kid with my parents.
  • 3. I would go out with women my age but there are no women my age.

2 Amazing

  • 1. It was really cool going to Sea World. We had an amazing time. They were amazing to us. We got to swim with the dolphins and it was really special.
  • 2. The upside to anger? Getting it out of your system. You got to express your anger. Then you have room for more positive things. If I hold something in a long time and then I speak it it's amazing how the light shines so much brighter.
  • 3. I never do any television without chocolate. That's my motto and I live by it. Quite often I write the scripts and I make sure there are chocolate scenes. Actually I'm a bit of a chocolate tart and will eat anything. It's amazing I'm so slim.

3 Anger

  • 1. When someone says that I'm angry it's actually a compliment. I have not always been direct with my anger in my relationships which is part of why I'd write about it in my songs because I had such fear around expressing anger as a woman.
  • 2. Most men's anger about religion is as if two men should quarrel for a lady they neither of them care for.
  • 3. I don't have the feeling of being motivated by anger revenge or frustration.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. The 150th anniversary of Penn State will highlight what is important and good about this distinguished institution and the fine people and research that it produces.
  • 2. So I think you have to marry for the right reasons and marry the right person.
  • 3. My last trip to New Orleans was for the fifth anniversary of Katrina and I had the awesome opportunity to bring my family down. We all worked on a house together and met some of the families.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Revived in this country the long forgotten beauties of Gothic architecture.
  • 2. For many years I have lived uncomfortably with the belief that most planning and architectural design suffers for lack of real and basic purpose. The ultimate purpose it seems to me must be the improvement of mankind.
  • 3. But I feel truly wowed by the architecture and the meaning of the architecture if you get lost in it and think about the man hours in the smallest little chapel and the love involved. God it's fantastic.
