The fact that we are I don't know how many millions of people yet communication complete communication is completely impossible between two of those people is to me one of the biggest tragic themes in the world.

People break down after a couple of hours. All the defenses go down and there's a kind of communication that if I spent 20 years in a living room with one of these people I would never never know as much about them as I do in that one day.

It's about communication. It's about honesty. It's about treating people in the organization as deserving to know the facts. You don't try to give them half the story. You don't try to hide the story. You treat them as – as true equals and you communicate and you communicate and communicate.

Strange about parents. We have such easy access to them and such daunting problems of communication.

  • 1. I'm glad I was born when I was. My time was the golden age of variety. If I were starting out again now maybe things would happen for me but it certainly would not be on a variety show with 28 musicians 12 dancers two major guest stars 50 costumes a week by Bob Mackie. The networks just wouldn't spend the money today.
  • 2. Everybody past a certain age regardless of how they look on the outside pretty much constantly dreams of being able to escape from their lives.
  • 3. Old age comes on suddenly and not gradually as is thought.

2 Amazing

  • 1. When the youth of America gets together amazing things happen.

3 Anger

4 Anniversary

  • 1. There is no more lovely friendly and charming relationship communion or company than a good marriage.
  • 2. 1 month ago the American people stopped to remember the third anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war. We thought first and foremost of the selflessness patriotism and heroism by our troops our National Guard and Reserves.
  • 3. Never tell a secret to a bride or a groom wait until they have been married longer.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Poetry is not only dream and vision it is the skeleton architecture of our lives. It lays the foundations for a future of change a bridge across our fears of what has never been before.
  • 2. In my early 20s I was so miserable doing construction I wanted something that paid money. I liked nice stuff. I liked cars and architecture and things that cost money. I wanted to not swing a hammer and make money… and not do stuff that was dirty. I attempted to get into comedy. I started to do stand-up but I wasn't very good at it.
  • 3. Painting sculpture and architecture are finished but the art habit continues.
