I am not opposed to intelligence reform on its face but any changes should reflect the current context.

1 Age

  • 1. We are living in the machine age. For the first time in history the comedian has been compelled to supply himself with jokes and comedy material to compete with the machine. Whether he knows it or not the comedian is on a treadmill to oblivion.

  • 3. Well I'm in my 60s now. I finally look it I think. People until I was 60 would always say they thought I looked younger which I think without flattering myself I did but I think I certainly have as George Orwell says people do after a certain age the face they deserve.

2 Amazing

  • 1. Dick Van Dyke was my first idol. He's an amazing physical comedian like a classic clown but also very smart and not afraid to show vulnerability.
  • 2. I'm always going to get more of a charge playing Chicago than I will Duluth or some place like that. Just because of the history and the people there are way more knowledgeable than a lot of other cities. It's an amazing music scene with some great bands and great musicians.
  • 3. When you're doing the traditional musicals singing songs that are 40 and 50 years old you realize there's a reason why those musicals are hits. These are amazing songs!

3 Anger

  • 1. The fear really hits you. That's what you feel first. And then it's the anger and frustration. Part of the problem is how little we understand about the ultimate betrayal of the body when it rebels against itself.
  • 2. Anger is a manifestation of a deeper issue… and that for me is based on insecurity self-esteem and loneliness.
  • 3. All who consult on doubtful matters should be void of hatred friendship anger and pity.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. That there's no more important decision in life than who you marry.
  • 2. I didn't make my first solo record until 1981 so I don't have any 60's or 70's recordings but I am working on a large boxed set called DUST to be released next year the 20th anniversary of my first solo record.
  • 3. The concept of two people living together for 25 years without a serious dispute suggests a lack of spirit only to be admired in sheep.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I don't build in order to have clients. I have clients in order to build.
  • 2. My house is my refuge an emotional piece of architecture not a cold piece of convenience.
  • 3. To provide meaningful architecture is not to parody history but to articulate it.
