I believe that there is some spiritual entity that's greater than us. I do not belong to any specific organized religion. I have always believed that and I believe it even more so now. I believe that someone was listening to me and someone is giving me an incredibly blessed life.

I think I'm fascinated by the power of religion in our culture. Like a lot of secular liberal people I ignored it for a long time. Lately of course just from a political perspective it's impossible to ignore.

2 Amazing

  • 1. As an editor I read Charlotte Rogan's amazing debut novel 'The Lifeboat ' when it was still in manuscript. I read it in one night and I really wanted my company to publish it but we lost it to another house. It's such a wonderful combination of beautiful writing and suspenseful storytelling.

  • 1. Both the Obama and Romney campaigns said they pulled all their political ads today in observance of the September 11th anniversary. But politics wasn't very far offstage. The Obama campaign sees foreign policy as an advantage this year.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Does an architecture to assuage the spirit have a place?
  • 2. I believe that the way people live can be directed a little by architecture.
  • 3. Art is very tricky because it's what you do for yourself. It's much harder for me to make those works than the monuments or the architecture.
