Let me read you some of my poetry. My poetry just takes me to another level.

The mystic purchases a moment of exhilaration with a lifetime of confusion and the confusion is infectious and destructive. It is confusing and destructive to try and explain anything in terms of anything else poetry in terms of psychology.

I don't look on poetry as closed works. I feel they're going on all the time in my head and I occasionally snip off a length.

1 Age

  • 1. Over the years Woodstock got glorified and romanticised and became the event that symbolised Utopia. It's the last page of our collective memory of the age of innocence. Then things turned ugly and would never be the same again.
  • 2. To keep the heart unwrinkled to be hopeful kindly cheerful reverent that is to triumph over old age.

2 Amazing

  • 1. I think it's very empowering to be able to have a career and to be a mother. It gives you an amazing sense of self.

3 Anger

  • 2. I think that all the anger and cynicism comes from suppressing things that we always wanted.
  • 3. I share the anger but ultimately to govern this country it takes more than anger. It takes experience. It takes positions that reflect the best values of the American people.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. The London games mark the 24th anniversary of my winning two golds and setting the world record in the heptathlon. Someone is going to want it records are made to be broken – it's only a matter of time. I hope mine will outlive me.
  • 2. The bonds of matrimony are like any other bonds – they mature slowly.
  • 3. So while an incredible amount of progress has been made on this fifth anniversary I wanted to come here and tell the people of this city directly: My administration is going to stand with you – and fight alongside you – until the job is done. Until New Orleans is all the way back all the way.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Victorian architecture in the United States was copied straight from England.
  • 2. Even though I build buildings and I pursue my architecture I pursue it as an artist. I deliberately keep a tiny studio. I don't want to be an architectural firm. I want to remain an artist.
  • 3. Proportions are what makes the old Greek temples classic in their beauty. They are like huge blocks from which the air has been literally hewn out between the columns.
