3 Anger

  • 1. I don't think I could play a character that I couldn't relate to somehow. I'm not unfamiliar with frustration anger shame helplessness and a load of other emotions that make up our psycho-soup. I try to focus on that frustration that sense of unfairness and multiply it.
  • 2. I was very fortunate to play sports. All the anger in me went out. I had to do what I had to do. If you stay angry all the time then you really don't have a good life.
  • 3. The reason why I love people and writing about them is because they don't always respond with hate and anger. If they did I wouldn't have a story to tell. Who wants to know about someone who was brutalised and became brutal? I'm interested in the exceptions.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Mr. Speaker I rise today to recognize the Peace Corps as it reached its 45th anniversary on March 1 2006.
  • 2. The chances of a reunion now are less likely. I was thinking of having a 40th anniversary of the band but now they are really another band so it's all a bit weird.

5 Architecture

  • 1. What has happened to architecture since the second world war that the only passers-by who can contemplate it without pain are those equipped with a white stick and a dog?
  • 2. But after the time there I'd had it with fashion again so I left to go to architecture school in a summer course at Harvard which didn't last very long.
  • 3. I was planning to go into architecture. But when I arrived architecture was filled up. Acting was right next to it so I signed up for acting instead.
