1 Age

  • 1. Dressing up is a bore. At a certain age you decorate yourself to attract the opposite sex and at a certain age I did that. But I'm past that age.

2 Amazing

  • 1. You get moments all the time that kind of make you pinch yourself some of them make you quite emotional. Winning a BRIT was a big moment because we were just so excited to be at the awards in the first place. Selling out Madison Square Garden was pretty amazing too. Then we woke to the news that our UK tour was sold out. It was crazy.
  • 2. What makes America amazing is that there have always been men and women of courage who were willing to think more about the future of their children and grandchildren than they did about their own political careers.
  • 3. It's just amazing to do something that's part of a pop culture phenomenon.

3 Anger

  • 1. Man should forget his anger before he lies down to sleep.
  • 2. It isn't enough just to scream at the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations. We need our political system to start reflect this anger back into 'How do we fix it? How do we get the economy going again?'
  • 3. People have said I'm the candidate of anger. Well we have a right to be angry. We lost 3 million jobs. We lost our place as the moral leader of the world.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Both the Obama and Romney campaigns said they pulled all their political ads today in observance of the September 11th anniversary. But politics wasn't very far offstage. The Obama campaign sees foreign policy as an advantage this year.
  • 2. More marriages might survive if the partners realized that sometimes the better comes after the worse.
  • 3. See the 'On the Road' that came out in 1957 was censored. A lot of the honesty of it the bitter honesty is in the original scroll version that came out in 2007 on the 50-year anniversary. Back then there was so much post-Second World War fear that was imposed on everybody – 'You must live life this way' – and these guys were bored.

5 Architecture

  • 1. People can inhabit anything. And they can be miserable in anything and ecstatic in anything. More and more I think that architecture has nothing to do with it. Of course that's both liberating and alarming.
  • 2. I have no requirements for a style of architecture.
  • 3. I loved logic math computer programming. I loved systems and logic approaches. And so I just figured architecture is this perfect combination.
