The rest of the world cares about how we conduct our affairs because they then take that lead. We're the only leader in the world today. Some are wishing us well others think that we're down and are not going to get back up again but they are all watching with great interest to see how we conduct our business over the next couple of years.

1 Age

2 Amazing

  • 1. I've had four amazing men in my life very strong powerful wonderful men. I certainly will have a relationship with someone but I don't think I will get married again.
  • 2. I jetset around and play these songs and get to hang with some pretty amazing people then I go home to a really great farm though actually it's a disaster area of a farm at the moment. But it's certainly a blast. I wouldn't trade lives with anyone right now.

3 Anger

  • 1. I've been trying to learn how to not be so conflicted about things like my own anger. I've always had a place in my music for my anger as a way of compensating for not having a mechanism to express it in my everyday life. So I've been trying to be more true to myself and that helps me to chill out a little bit. But politically uh-uh. No.
  • 2. I don't think I could play a character that I couldn't relate to somehow. I'm not unfamiliar with frustration anger shame helplessness and a load of other emotions that make up our psycho-soup. I try to focus on that frustration that sense of unfairness and multiply it.
  • 3. The anger that appears to be building up between the sexes becomes more virulent with every day that passes. And far from women taking the blame… the fact is that men are invariably portrayed as the bad guys. Being a good man is like being a good Nazi.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. I feel there should have been some recognition of the Spice Girls at this year's 25th anniversary. We flew the flag for Britain around the globe in the 1990s and we achieved a hell of a lot.
  • 2. The 150th anniversary of Penn State will highlight what is important and good about this distinguished institution and the fine people and research that it produces.
  • 3. We are not the same persons this year as last nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we changing continue to love a changed person.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Japanese architecture is very much copied in this country and in Europe.
  • 2. What has happened to architecture since the second world war that the only passers-by who can contemplate it without pain are those equipped with a white stick and a dog?
  • 3. Architecture should speak of its time and place but yearn for timelessness.
