1 Age

  • 1. Sometimes I think it would be easier to avoid old age to die young but then you'd never complete your life would you? You'd never wholly know you.
  • 2. Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age. Sometimes age just shows up all by itself.
  • 3. I started writing when I had three kids under the age of 4. I used to write every ten minutes I got to sit in front of a computer. Now when I have more time I function the same way: if it's writing time I write.

2 Amazing

  • 1. I used the music kind of as therapy and it's just amazing that I feel so free after doing that. I feel like I had it trapped inside of me and now I feel free. So it's been a very good therapy session for me as well.
  • 2. I really would love to do a piece like Julia Roberts or Charlize Theron in 'Erin Brockovich' or 'North Country.' They were both so amazing and so inspiring. I would love to touch someone in the way their performances touched me.
  • 3. '10' was amazing! I had no career before '10' and then all of a sudden I was able to do pretty much whatever I was able to do in the business.

3 Anger

  • 1. Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding.
  • 2. I get in trouble when I say things like 'I'm attracted to violence.' I was a pretty angry kid and I got into military history largely as a way to vent my own anger. As I got older it narrowed down to a more specific focus on individual violence. I'm just trying to understand where it came from.
  • 3. I think a certain amount of anger has been a fuel of mine if you want – but also some sort of sadness and plain mischief of course.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. A lot of good love can happen in ten years.
  • 2. The secret of a happy marriage is finding the right person. You know they're right if you love to be with them all the time.
  • 3. I didn't make my first solo record until 1981 so I don't have any 60's or 70's recordings but I am working on a large boxed set called DUST to be released next year the 20th anniversary of my first solo record.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Prose is architecture not interior decoration and the Baroque is over.
  • 2. Noble life demands a noble architecture for noble uses of noble men. Lack of culture means what it has always meant: ignoble civilization and therefore imminent downfall.
