The rest of the world cares about how we conduct our affairs because they then take that lead. We're the only leader in the world today. Some are wishing us well others think that we're down and are not going to get back up again but they are all watching with great interest to see how we conduct our business over the next couple of years.

1 Age

  • 1. Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don't mind it doesn't matter.
  • 2. I'm 20 years old. I like to party as much as anyone my age. Going clubbing is my way of relaxing or releasing a lot of stress. I don't feel that I should have to justify that part of my life. I don't know that I'm necessarily an addict.
  • 3. A comfortable old age is the reward of a well-spent youth. Instead of its bringing sad and melancholy prospects of decay it would give us hopes of eternal youth in a better world.

2 Amazing

  • 1. The past 6 and a half years have been the most amazing years of my life. It's sad it has come to an end but Avril and I are still family and moving forward in the most positive way possible.
  • 2. For me I don't expect to have a really amazing meal each time I dine out. Having a good meal with your loved ones – that's what makes the experience.
  • 3. Recently I went to a disco with friends and all the young people were saying 'Dudamel we want to go to your concert but it's impossible because it's sold out.' It's really amazing.

3 Anger

  • 1. The anger of a person who is strong can always bide its time.
  • 2. I'm not someone who feels anger on particular issues.
  • 3. But one of the hardest things for me to do was to access anger. I could do it on stage. But when I did it on film it was hard for me. That probably has to do with the intimacy of film. And my own personal issues with expressing anger. So I had to learn how to do that.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. The London games mark the 24th anniversary of my winning two golds and setting the world record in the heptathlon. Someone is going to want it records are made to be broken – it's only a matter of time. I hope mine will outlive me.
  • 2. I think you have to be willing to take a bullet for somebody if you're going to stand up there take your vows and be married to them for the rest of your life.
  • 3. Some people ask the secret of our long marriage. We take time to go to a restaurant two times a week. A little candlelight dinner soft music and dancing. She goes Tuesdays I go Fridays.

5 Architecture

  • 1. The speed of change makes you wonder what will become of architecture.
  • 2. The work of art shows people new directions and thinks of the future. The house thinks of the present.
  • 3. When I'm in London Claridge's is a great favourite. I'm a big fan of art deco architecture and the rooms are extraordinary.
