I think I'm fascinated by the power of religion in our culture. Like a lot of secular liberal people I ignored it for a long time. Lately of course just from a political perspective it's impossible to ignore.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. We are not the same persons this year as last nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we changing continue to love a changed person.
  • 2. Why does a woman work ten years to change a man's habits and then complain that he's not the man she married?
  • 3. More marriages might survive if the partners realized that sometimes the better comes after the worse.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Of all the lessons most relevant to architecture today Japanese flexibility is the greatest.
  • 2. It's my goal to make a building as immaterial as possible. Architecture is a very material thing. It takes a lot of resources so why not eliminate what you don't need as long as you're able to achieve the same result?
  • 3. The organizational architecture is really that a centipede walks on hundred legs and one or two don't count. So if I lose one or two legs the process will go on the organization will go on the growth will go on.
