It felt like the first thing but when I first started out I got a job adapting a book by Russell Banks called 'Rule Of The Bone.' I didn't do a very good job. I didn't really know what I was doing in general let alone how to adapt a book.

2 Amazing

3 Anger

  • 1. Acting in anger and hatred throughout my life I frequently precipitated what I feared most the loss of friendships and the need to rely upon the very people I'd abused.
  • 2. We're taught to be ashamed of confusion anger fear and sadness and to me they're of equal value to happiness excitement and inspiration.
  • 3. What influenced me was Tori Amos who was unapologetic about expressing anger through music and Sinead O'Connor. Those two in particular were really moving for me and very inspiring before I wrote 'Jagged Little Pill.'

4 Anniversary

  • 1. And currently there are four to five new works in the pipeline for upcoming celebrations such as the Sydney 2000 Olympics Australian Federation my 50th Birthday and Sydney Dance Company's 25th Anniversary.
  • 2. I didn't make my first solo record until 1981 so I don't have any 60's or 70's recordings but I am working on a large boxed set called DUST to be released next year the 20th anniversary of my first solo record.
  • 3. One should believe in marriage as in the immortality of the soul.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Without this spirit Modernist architecture cannot fully exist. Since there is often a mismatch between the logic and the spirit of Modernism I use architecture to reconcile the two.
  • 2. Architects in the past have tended to concentrate their attention on the building as a static object. I believe dynamics are more important: the dynamics of people their interaction with spaces and environmental condition.
  • 3. Even at the United Nations where legend has it that the building was designed so that there could be no corner offices the expanse of glass in individual offices is said to be a dead giveaway as to rank. Five windows are excellent one window not so great.
