1 Age

  • 1. There are signs that the age of petroleum has passed its zenith. Adjusted for inflation a barrel of crude oil now sells for three times its long-run average. The large western oil companies which cartellised the industry for much of the 20th century are now selling more oil than they find and are thus in the throes of liquidation.
  • 2. In this age which believes that there is a short cut to everything the greatest lesson to be learned is that the most difficult way is in the long run the easiest.

2 Amazing

  • 1. It's an amazing thing to say 'I'm beautiful ' without feeling like you're cocky.
  • 2. Some people are born with a brain that has this weird magical mathematical thing that makes them an amazing jazz musician.
  • 3. I'd do pretty much anything to get back on stage. I'd like to develop a new musical. I nearly had a heart attack when I heard that they're developing John Waters' Cry-Baby because that is so amazing and super and wonderful and I wish that I could be involved. But it's not the right time and I understand that. But I hear things like that and I get that little tingle in my stomach.

3 Anger

  • 1. All improv turns into anger. All comedy improv basically turns into anger because that's all people know how to do when they're improvising. If you notice shows that are improvising are generally people yelling at each other.
  • 2. Everybody kind of perceives me as being angry. It's not anger it's motivation.
  • 3. I use the music to vent and a lot of the stuff that I am writing about or was writing about contained a lot of anger and anxiety stress and depression so that's how the album came out so dark.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. There is no more lovely friendly and charming relationship communion or company than a good marriage.
  • 2. It is a matter of public shame that while we have now commemorated our hundredth anniversary not one in every ten children attending Public schools throughout the colonies is acquainted with a single historical fact about Australia.
  • 3. The day before the anniversary of D-Day we lost a man who was equaled by few and surpassed by none as a leader in the cause of freedom: Ronald Reagan.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Look architecture has a lot of places to hide behind a lot of excuses. 'The client made me do this.' 'The city made me do this.' 'Oh the budget.' I don't believe that anymore.
  • 2. Cities are the greatest creations of humanity.
  • 3. Designed by architects with honorable intentions but hands of palsy.
