You do the work and you want people to see it but um while I'm doing the work the result doesn't matter at all to me. Ultimately I don't I don't care whether the film is – you know – some big giant box-office bonanza and I don't care if its a complete flop. To me when a film gets made and it's actually finished it's a success. They're all a success in their own way.

I was successful materially but I know life is much more than worldly success. I saw all these blessings God had given me. The way to give thanks is obedience to God.

1 Age

2 Amazing

3 Anger

  • 1. I want to express myself to feel that what I feel is real. My joy my pain my anger.
  • 2. What if you threw a protest and no one showed up? The lack of angst and anger and emotion is a big positive.
  • 3. Whether one agrees or disagrees with the tactics of the Occupy Wall Street movement it's easy to understand the inspiration for its anger as well as its impatience.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. We can't forget what happened on May 4th 1970 when four students gave up their lives because they had the American constitutional right of peaceful protest. They gave up their lives. And to sing that song in that spot on that anniversary was very emotional for us.
  • 2. Love grows more tremendously full swift poignant as the years multiply.
  • 3. Since I wrote to you last we have got our chapel beautifully lighted with gas and have had our anniversary.

5 Architecture

  • 1. It's my goal to make a building as immaterial as possible. Architecture is a very material thing. It takes a lot of resources so why not eliminate what you don't need as long as you're able to achieve the same result?
  • 2. Today's developer is a poor substitute for the committed entrepreneur of the last century for whom the work of architecture represented a chance to celebrate the worth of his enterprise.
  • 3. Any architectural project we do takes at least four or five years so increasingly there is a discrepancy between the acceleration of culture and the continuing slowness of architecture.
