I find that it isn't wise to attempt to judge people on their public persona and even on the music they make. Because I've met so many people whose music I cannot stand and they're very nice. At the same time I've met people whose music I've loved and they're not the person you've invested all this emotion in.

I think that is what film and art and music do they can work as a map of sorts for your feelings.

I think there are unseen powers who don't want pop music to be anything other than glorified Madonnas.

1 Age

  • 1. A final word: I am not knowledgeable about the internet. I do not have a computer. I guess that at 74 years of age I don't have the patience to learn.

2 Amazing

  • 1. It's a melting pot southern Africa. You find these cultural collisions that result in art and music and it's pretty amazing.
  • 2. The truth sets you free. It's a very liberating thing when you say this is who I am warts and all and then you can just get on with life. It's amazing.
  • 3. I love Benny Hill. He one of my favourites of aaall time. Like the way Benny did it he was just amazing. Just seeing how he put songs together and comedy and the timing and the sketches. He was way ahead of his time.

3 Anger

  • 1. I have a right to my anger and I don't want anybody telling me I shouldn't be that it's not nice to be and that something's wrong with me because I get angry.
  • 2. All improv turns into anger. All comedy improv basically turns into anger because that's all people know how to do when they're improvising. If you notice shows that are improvising are generally people yelling at each other.
  • 3. Religion can emerge in all forms of feeling: here wild anger there the sweetest pain here consuming hatred there the childlike smile of serene humility.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. The London games mark the 24th anniversary of my winning two golds and setting the world record in the heptathlon. Someone is going to want it records are made to be broken – it's only a matter of time. I hope mine will outlive me.
  • 2. And currently there are four to five new works in the pipeline for upcoming celebrations such as the Sydney 2000 Olympics Australian Federation my 50th Birthday and Sydney Dance Company's 25th Anniversary.
  • 3. And this year is going to be the 25th anniversary of the 17-0 team the only undefeated season.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Consider the momentous event in architecture when the wall parted and the column became.
  • 2. A man of eighty has outlived probably three new schools of painting two of architecture and poetry and a hundred in dress.
  • 3. Each new situation requires a new architecture.
