1 Age

  • 1. Life expectancy in many parts of Africa can be something around the age of thirty five to thirty eight. I mean you're very fortunate if you live to that age. In fact when I went to Uganda for the first time one of the things that occurred to me was that I saw very few elderly people.

2 Amazing

3 Anger

  • 1. Holding on to anger resentment and hurt only gives you tense muscles a headache and a sore jaw from clenching your teeth. Forgiveness gives you back the laughter and the lightness in your life.
  • 2. I drank for about 25 years getting over the loss of my father and I took the anger out on myself. I did a good job at beating myself up at sometimes. I don't drink anymore but my alcoholic head occasionally says different. 'Nil By Mouth' was a love letter to my father because I needed to resolve some issues in order to be able to forgive him.
  • 3. Anger is a transient hatred or at least very like it.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Both the Obama and Romney campaigns said they pulled all their political ads today in observance of the September 11th anniversary. But politics wasn't very far offstage. The Obama campaign sees foreign policy as an advantage this year.
  • 2. Marriage is the most natural state of man and… the state in which you will find solid happiness.
  • 3. The concept of two people living together for 25 years without a serious dispute suggests a lack of spirit only to be admired in sheep.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Any work of architecture that has with it some discussion some polemic I think is good. It shows that people are interested people are involved.
  • 2. In my early 20s I was so miserable doing construction I wanted something that paid money. I liked nice stuff. I liked cars and architecture and things that cost money. I wanted to not swing a hammer and make money… and not do stuff that was dirty. I attempted to get into comedy. I started to do stand-up but I wasn't very good at it.
  • 3. My buildings don't speak in words but by means of their own spaciousness.
