I think sex is very interesting for most people but I'm interested in sex as a way of communication I'm not that interested in the fantasy version of a sex scene.

The fact that we are I don't know how many millions of people yet communication complete communication is completely impossible between two of those people is to me one of the biggest tragic themes in the world.

People break down after a couple of hours. All the defenses go down and there's a kind of communication that if I spent 20 years in a living room with one of these people I would never never know as much about them as I do in that one day.

  • 1. My parents were really really cool about supporting what I wanted to do at a really young age. I think I was about 10 when I caught the bug. They would drive me down to New York if there were auditions. When I was 12 I did this show on Broadway called 'High Society ' so we moved to New York for the run of that.
  • 2. Over the years Woodstock got glorified and romanticised and became the event that symbolised Utopia. It's the last page of our collective memory of the age of innocence. Then things turned ugly and would never be the same again.
  • 3. Back in the 1960s I saw Peter Paul and Mary. I was at that age about 14 and I was mesmerized.

2 Amazing

  • 1. There's such an array of brilliant roles for young women. You read all these amazing young women going through different stages in their life – different stages different fascinations different textualities different friendships.
  • 2. I have a really amazing fan club it's contemporary but it's a little bit old school. There's a lot of connection. I have a fan club president who really responds to people.
  • 3. In 29 years I had recorded over 2 200 songs. I was amazed.

3 Anger

  • 1. Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.
  • 2. My humour has always come from anger but I have to make sure I don't just get angry and jump on a soapbox.
  • 3. I think I'm basically the same guy I always was. Maybe I've learned through experience to rein in some of the anger and temper they say redheads normally have.

4 Anniversary

  • 3. Next month I will celebrate my 30th anniversary of marriage with my beautiful bride Vicki. Our marriage has been a blessing. I have gained even more respect for the institution over the past 3 decades and will defend it against attack.

5 Architecture

  • 1. If you examine this I think that you will find that it's the mechanics of Japanese architecture that have been thought of as the direct influence upon our architecture.
  • 2. Of the individual poems some are more lyric and some are more descriptive or narrative. Each poem is fixed in a moment. All those moments written or read together take on the movement and architecture of a narrative.
  • 3. Architecture is about public space held by buildings.
