The first book I wrote was The Bride Price which was a romantic book but my husband burnt the book when he saw it. I was the typical African woman I'd done this privately I wanted him to look at it approve it and he said he wouldn't read it.

In the West audiences think I am a stereotyped action star or that I always play hitmen or killers. But in Hong Kong I did a lot of comedy many dramatic films and most of all romantic roles lots of love stories. I was like a romance novel hero.

1 Age

  • 1. I don't know whether it's age or maturity but I certainly find myself committed more and more to the looser forms of Western democracy at any price.
  • 2. My parents were really really cool about supporting what I wanted to do at a really young age. I think I was about 10 when I caught the bug. They would drive me down to New York if there were auditions. When I was 12 I did this show on Broadway called 'High Society ' so we moved to New York for the run of that.
  • 3. You need some insecurity if you're an actor. It keeps the pot boiling. I haven't yet started to think about retiring. I was shocked when I heard about Paul Newman retiring at age 82. Most actors just fade away like old soldiers.

2 Amazing

  • 1. The amount of control you have over somebody if you can monitor internet activity is amazing.
  • 2. But it was great we sit in the same dressing room where like Johnny Cash sat and Willie Nelson and all those guys. That was in itself something amazing – I was on the same space these guys stood on ya know?

3 Anger

  • 1. What if you threw a protest and no one showed up? The lack of angst and anger and emotion is a big positive.
  • 2. Anger becomes limiting restricting. You can't see through it. While anger is there look at that too. But after a while you have to look at something else.
  • 3. Successful prime-time television of any genre produces some kind of emotional reaction in the viewers. There are a lot of different emotions to tap into. The emotion of the reward of discovery the feeling of righteous anger the feelings of pathos and sadness or sentimentality of being moved by something.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. You will reciprocally promise love loyalty and matrimonial honesty. We only want for you this day that these words constitute the principle of your entire life and that with the help of divine grace you will observe these solemn vows that today before God you formulate.
  • 2. Next month I will celebrate my 30th anniversary of marriage with my beautiful bride Vicki. Our marriage has been a blessing. I have gained even more respect for the institution over the past 3 decades and will defend it against attack.

5 Architecture
