1 Age

  • 1. My dad encouraged us to fail. Growing up he would ask us what we failed at that week. If we didn't have something he would be disappointed. It changed my mindset at an early age that failure is not the outcome failure is not trying. Don't be afraid to fail.
  • 2. No no I was only funny on stage really. I I think I was funny as a person toward my classmates when I was very young. You know when I was a child up to about the age of 12.

2 Amazing

  • 1. We have an amazing advantage right now in that we have developed technology that is so sexy so engaging for kids.
  • 2. Raising a small child as a woman while travelling 10 months out of the year would I believe be something I would not be able or even want to do although with the amazing example of Leila I am no longer so sure.

3 Anger

  • 1. Anger is a short madness.
  • 2. What if you threw a protest and no one showed up? The lack of angst and anger and emotion is a big positive.
  • 3. I think people should be angry at things that are worthy of anger. Injustice is outrageous and deserves outrage.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Since I wrote to you last we have got our chapel beautifully lighted with gas and have had our anniversary.
  • 2. But to sustain a marriage for 50 years you have to get real a little bit and find someone who is understanding and who you can grow with. My mom always says 'Marry the man who loves you a millimeter more.'
  • 3. Presently the Commission for Commemorating 350 Years of American Jewish History has been brought about to encourage and sponsor a variety of historical activities that advance our understanding of the American Jewish experience as it marks this milestone anniversary.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I probably spent the first 20 years of my life wanting to be as American as possible. Through my 20s and into my 30s I began to become aware of how so much of my art and architecture has a decidedly Eastern character.
  • 2. Space has always been the spiritual dimension of architecture. It is not the physical statement of the structure so much as what it contains that moves us.
  • 3. I could have been an architect but I don't think I'd have been very happy. Nearly all modern architecture is a silly game as far as I can see.
