1 Age

  • 1. By age seven I used to comb my hair for performances just pull my hair up into a bun. Granted it wasn't a very intricate hairstyle. Still to be that responsible and disciplined at age seven is unusual.
  • 2. I never played much golf as a kid. I caddied quite a bit but never got serious into golf until about age 15.
  • 3. Most of the basic material a writer works with is acquired before the age of fifteen.

2 Amazing

  • 1. At 13 when I was a runaway I was taken in by the most amazing drag queens in Portland Ore. We didn't always know where our next meal was coming from but there was so much camaraderie and love. Not to mention those girls could paint a face and I learned how because of them.
  • 2. I used the music kind of as therapy and it's just amazing that I feel so free after doing that. I feel like I had it trapped inside of me and now I feel free. So it's been a very good therapy session for me as well.
  • 3. Usher is amazing. He's perfection to me as a performer. He gets down.

3 Anger

  • 1. My hope is that out of all the anger and seeming hostility that we hear in some of today's music will come some sort of coalition that will become politically involved.
  • 2. Hatred is inveterate anger.
  • 3. I turned to music originally because of my past and needing a release or an outlet to get out anger or frustration or hurt.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. We can't forget what happened on May 4th 1970 when four students gave up their lives because they had the American constitutional right of peaceful protest. They gave up their lives. And to sing that song in that spot on that anniversary was very emotional for us.
  • 2. This year as we celebrate the 230th anniversary of America's independence please remember the symbols that are sacred to this country. Fly Old Glory high and show your respect and admiration for this great nation and the values we hold dear.
  • 3. I feel there should have been some recognition of the Spice Girls at this year's 25th anniversary. We flew the flag for Britain around the globe in the 1990s and we achieved a hell of a lot.

5 Architecture

  • 1. If you're into architecture and you're from the West everything is hors d'oeuvres for working to rebuild the Temple. Ultimately you're led there. You can't escape it.
  • 2. The only job that was ever of interest to me other than filmmaking is architecture.
  • 3. But I absolutely believe that architecture is a social activity that has to do with some sort of communication or places of interaction and that to change the environment is to change behaviour.
