Let me read you some of my poetry. My poetry just takes me to another level.

The mystic purchases a moment of exhilaration with a lifetime of confusion and the confusion is infectious and destructive. It is confusing and destructive to try and explain anything in terms of anything else poetry in terms of psychology.

I don't look on poetry as closed works. I feel they're going on all the time in my head and I occasionally snip off a length.

1 Age

  • 1. Thomas Jefferson once said 'We should never judge a president by his age only by his works.' And ever since he told me that I stopped worrying.
  • 2. I was drafted into the Army when I was 19 and came out at age 22. Most people that I knew didn't think they'd come home alive. I didn't think I would either so I was happy when I did.
  • 3. I always wanted to be a designer. I read books on fashion from the age of 12.

2 Amazing

  • 1. I filmed 'Albatross' before I got 'Downton.' It's a coming-of-age movie about this girl who leaps into this family's life like a whirlwind. She's ballsy and brash and wonderful it was such an amazing character to play.
  • 2. Bruce Lee was very famous. I watched his movies and he is amazing. He is a martial arts master his philosophy his movement both physically and mentally were very strong.
  • 3. The '60s were an amazing time.

3 Anger

  • 1. A lot of my humor does come from anger. It's like you're not gonna pull one over on me – which is pretty much my motto anyways.
  • 2. Revenge is often like biting a dog because the dog bit you.
  • 3. Experts say you should never hit your children in anger. When is a good time? When you're feeling festive?

4 Anniversary

  • 1. We had a relationship that lasted 44 years. Herbert and I lived together 10 years before we were married. He always gave me a little heart for whatever anniversary.
  • 2. We can't forget what happened on May 4th 1970 when four students gave up their lives because they had the American constitutional right of peaceful protest. They gave up their lives. And to sing that song in that spot on that anniversary was very emotional for us.
  • 3. Since I wrote to you last we have got our chapel beautifully lighted with gas and have had our anniversary.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Opera next to Gothic architecture is one of the strangest inventions of Western man. It could not have been foreseen by any logical process.
  • 2. In addressing a task one almost always has several possible options sometimes only a few and they may all be practical and functional. But they lack the aesthetic aspect that raises it to architecture.
  • 3. I was planning to go into architecture. But when I arrived architecture was filled up. Acting was right next to it so I signed up for acting instead.
