I think I'm fascinated by the power of religion in our culture. Like a lot of secular liberal people I ignored it for a long time. Lately of course just from a political perspective it's impossible to ignore.

3 Anger

  • 1. Man should forget his anger before he lies down to sleep.
  • 2. People have said I'm the candidate of anger. Well we have a right to be angry. We lost 3 million jobs. We lost our place as the moral leader of the world.
  • 3. I was a pretty angry kid and I got into military history largely as a way to vent my own anger. As I got older it narrowed down to a more specific focus on individual violence. I'm just trying to understand where it came from.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. I am so excited this year getting to play the 85th Anniversary Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Everyone knows on Thanksgiving morning to get up turn on the TV and watch the parade so to be an actual participant is going to be fun and I'm looking forward to it. I am gonna have to put on my deer hunting gear though to stay warm!

5 Architecture

  • 1. I hate vacations. If you can build buildings why sit on the beach?
  • 2. What people want above all is order.
  • 3. Any architectural project we do takes at least four or five years so increasingly there is a discrepancy between the acceleration of culture and the continuing slowness of architecture.
