At our best it's a good experience but we do 22 episodes a year so there are some clunkers.

1 Age

  • 1. People who refuse to rest honorably on their laurels when they reach retirement age seem very admirable to me.
  • 2. I remember when I was 6 years old and my brother used to go seek out guys that were 13 to come over and play football against me while he was the 'permanent quarterback.' I didn't know exactly what the age difference was but I was already playing against older guys.

2 Amazing

  • 1. Everybody knows about Pearl Harbor. The thing that really fascinated me is that through this tragedy there was this amazing American heroism.
  • 2. I walked to Seward School first through fourth grade. It's just amazing to me now that we'd walk down 10th Avenue on Capitol Hill.
  • 3. Two packed houses. I guess the theater sat 2 700 people every night so it was an amazing experience.

3 Anger

  • 1. I was a pretty angry kid and I got into military history largely as a way to vent my own anger. As I got older it narrowed down to a more specific focus on individual violence. I'm just trying to understand where it came from.
  • 2. A lot of my humor does come from anger. It's like you're not gonna pull one over on me – which is pretty much my motto anyways.
  • 3. Somebody hits me I'm going to hit him back. Even if it does look like he hasn't eaten in a while.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. June 2005 is the five year anniversary of the debut of Battle Pope.
  • 2. The London games mark the 24th anniversary of my winning two golds and setting the world record in the heptathlon. Someone is going to want it records are made to be broken – it's only a matter of time. I hope mine will outlive me.
  • 3. There is no more lovely friendly and charming relationship communion or company than a good marriage.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Architecture is about public space held by buildings.
  • 2. I think architecture has to be a gift.
  • 3. A great building must begin with the unmeasurable must go through measurable means when it is being designed and in the end must be unmeasurable.
