I like freedom. I wake up in the morning and say 'I don't know should I have a popsicle or a donut?' You know who knows?

On tour I'll get up at 5 p.m. and go to bed at 8 in the morning. With fishing it's the exact opposite. Fishing is the only healthy thing I do. Touring is such a grind it's the opposite of healthy.

I didn't know that I could do a talk show. I didn't know that we could bring variety to daytime. I didn't know that people wanted to see singing and dancing and comedy in the morning.

3 Anger

  • 1. Men are fair and they have learned not to personalize anger – they can disagree with you and argue to the bone but afterward they still consider you a nice person with whom the underlying human relationship need not be altered.
  • 2. It is wise to direct your anger towards problems – not people to focus your energies on answers – not excuses.
  • 3. You've just got to have a sense of respect for the person you have children with. Anger doesn't help anybody. Ultimately you have to say forgiveness is important and honoring what you had together is important. But it's easy to say and harder to do.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. I did that Dior Couture 60th anniversary show in July. It took so long to get ready I think I would have rather been watching.

  • 3. Both the Obama and Romney campaigns said they pulled all their political ads today in observance of the September 11th anniversary. But politics wasn't very far offstage. The Obama campaign sees foreign policy as an advantage this year.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Rome has not seen a modern building in more than half a century. It is a city frozen in time.
  • 2. Architecture is politics.
  • 3. Maybe we can show government how to operate better as a result of better architecture. Eventually I think Chicago will be the most beautiful great city left in the world.
