The fact that we are I don't know how many millions of people yet communication complete communication is completely impossible between two of those people is to me one of the biggest tragic themes in the world.

People break down after a couple of hours. All the defenses go down and there's a kind of communication that if I spent 20 years in a living room with one of these people I would never never know as much about them as I do in that one day.

It's about communication. It's about honesty. It's about treating people in the organization as deserving to know the facts. You don't try to give them half the story. You don't try to hide the story. You treat them as – as true equals and you communicate and you communicate and communicate.

Strange about parents. We have such easy access to them and such daunting problems of communication.

2 Amazing

  • 1. Receiving the Newcombe Medal for a third year in a row is an amazing honour. The Newcombe Medal is a great occasion for the Australian tennis community to come together and celebrate our sport recognise people's achievements and contributions to Australian tennis.
  • 2. I always knew that St. Jude was an amazing organization but meeting the kids and seeing how the hospital works first hand was truly beautiful. It doesn't feel like a regular hospital all dreary and sad. It's a colorful beautiful comfortable fun place to live and the energy is wonderful.
  • 3. I mean there is amazing amount of oil and gas and other resources out beneath the sea. It's staggering.

3 Anger

  • 1. There are two things a person should never be angry at what they can help and what they cannot.
  • 2. Violence is a problem we all want to solve. I want to make sure that kids learn to deal with anger by learning how to talk with people to solve problems. Here in the United States Senate I want to make sure we have safe schools safe neighborhoods and good things for kids to do after school!
  • 3. On banks I make no apology for attacking spivs and gamblers who did more harm to the British economy than Bob Crow could achieve in his wildest Trotskyite fantasies while paying themselves outrageous bonuses underwritten by the taxpayer. There is much public anger about banks and it is well deserved.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. We are not the same persons this year as last nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we changing continue to love a changed person.
  • 2. The 150th anniversary of Penn State will highlight what is important and good about this distinguished institution and the fine people and research that it produces.
  • 3. Since I wrote to you last we have got our chapel beautifully lighted with gas and have had our anniversary.

5 Architecture

  • 1. A great building must begin with the unmeasurable must go through measurable means when it is being designed and in the end must be unmeasurable.
  • 2. Architecture is the will of an epoch translated into space.
  • 3. The principle of the Gothic architecture is infinity made imaginable.
