  • 1. Compared to a lot of actresses my age I'm actually overweight.
  • 2. Of middle age the best that can be said is that a middle-aged person has likely learned how to have a little fun in spite of his troubles.
  • 3. It's not always possible to sit down and eat at home in this day and age of fast-paced living but if you are going to eat out do so as a family and support all the great local places in your areas. I'll still eat at the same diner I did as a kid with my parents.

2 Amazing

  • 1. The real amazing thing about all of this is I think I've maintained the mentality of a musician throughout it all which I'm proudest of. And I'm still playing on people's records and singing on people's records.
  • 2. It's nice because success has allowed me to have a blast on stage to be in the studio with amazing people but I find it all a bit bizarre.

3 Anger

  • 1. For a long time I thought I could deal with my anger and hostility on my own. But I couldn't. I denied that it had affected me and yet I was so frantic on the inside with other people: I needed to be constantly reassured.
  • 2. Somebody hits me I'm going to hit him back. Even if it does look like he hasn't eaten in a while.
  • 3. After my second-to-last record 'The Greatest' I had gone on tour for a while and I didn't play an instrument for about five years. And I got kind of – it's not self-esteem or whatever or anger toward myself – but disappointed in myself that I hadn't been challenging myself to learn musically.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. A lot of good love can happen in ten years.
  • 2. Experts on romance say for a happy marriage there has to be more than a passionate love. For a lasting union they insist there must be a genuine liking for each other. Which in my book is a good definition for friendship.
  • 3. It is a matter of public shame that while we have now commemorated our hundredth anniversary not one in every ten children attending Public schools throughout the colonies is acquainted with a single historical fact about Australia.

5 Architecture

  • 1. My buildings will be my legacy… they will speak for me long after I'm gone.
  • 2. I see music as fluid architecture.
  • 3. People kind of tend to mystify design and architecture by suggesting you need to train.
