1 Age

  • 1. The year I was born 1956 was the peak year for babies being born and there are more people essentially our age than anybody else. We could crush these new generations if we decided too.
  • 2. The older generation had greater respect for land than science. But we live in an age when science more than soil has become the provider of growth and abundance. Living just on the land creates loneliness in an age of globality.
  • 3. Parenting is an impossible job at any age.

2 Amazing

  • 1. I liked the way they treated the first second and third place finishers equally. It was an amazing year. I only entered two song contests this year I won one and placed second in the other. And I entered each of them a day or two before the deadline.
  • 2. I was terribly shy when I was growing up I really wasn't confident with other people and I think I was always afraid of up or not being this very cool amazing person that I wanted to be.
  • 3. After I finished high school I went to Hong Kong and Thailand and spent some time there. Just to get that whole experience of being out of the bubble that I was in from high school in Vancouver to be able to travel around and be on your own was an amazing experience.

3 Anger

  • 1. Hatred is settled anger.
  • 2. If anger proceeds from a great cause it turns to fury if from a small cause it is peevishness and so is always either terrible or ridiculous.
  • 3. In times of great stress or adversity it's always best to keep busy to plow your anger and your energy into something positive.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Both the Obama and Romney campaigns said they pulled all their political ads today in observance of the September 11th anniversary. But politics wasn't very far offstage. The Obama campaign sees foreign policy as an advantage this year.
  • 2. Next month I will celebrate my 30th anniversary of marriage with my beautiful bride Vicki. Our marriage has been a blessing. I have gained even more respect for the institution over the past 3 decades and will defend it against attack.
  • 3. I feel there should have been some recognition of the Spice Girls at this year's 25th anniversary. We flew the flag for Britain around the globe in the 1990s and we achieved a hell of a lot.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Information and inspiration are everywhere… history art architecture everything an illustrator needs. Europe is after all the land that has generated most of the enduring myths and legends of Western culture.
  • 2. Until the Eighties Oslo was a rather boring town but it's changed a lot and is now much more cosmopolitan. If I go downtown I visit the harbour to see the tall ships and the ferries and to admire the modern architecture such as the Opera House or the new Astrup Fearnley Museum on the water's edge.
  • 3. To me a building – if it's beautiful – is the love of one man he's made it out of his love for space materials things like that.
