  • 1. Rereading A.J. Liebling carries me happily back to an age when all good journalists knew they had plenty to be modest about and were.
  • 2. If you're extremely painfully frightened of age it shows.
  • 3. I'm never overawed by a situation and I think that's because I've always looked several years older than I am. So because people were treating me like I was 40 when I was 29 I've always felt in control of a situation. People used to say when you're 32 you'll look 32. I'm still waiting for that moment where my age catches up with my appearance.

2 Amazing

  • 1. If you're a basketball player and you don't stop and take pictures with your fans you can have an amazing game and everyone still loves you.
  • 2. But it was great we sit in the same dressing room where like Johnny Cash sat and Willie Nelson and all those guys. That was in itself something amazing – I was on the same space these guys stood on ya know?
  • 3. I've worked on films where the budgets are almost limitless and you're in trailers that are bigger than a hotel room. You're taken care of and the food is amazing the quality of the job is amazing and then you work on smaller things but it never dictates my happiness or my willingness to go to work.

3 Anger

  • 1. I don't think your ability to fight has anything to do with how big you are. It's to do with how much anger is in you.
  • 2. I want to express myself to feel that what I feel is real. My joy my pain my anger.
  • 3. Quite a lot of our contemporary culture is actually shot through with a resentment of limits and the passage of time anger at what we can't do fear or even disgust at growing old.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. I did that Dior Couture 60th anniversary show in July. It took so long to get ready I think I would have rather been watching.
  • 2. My last trip to New Orleans was for the fifth anniversary of Katrina and I had the awesome opportunity to bring my family down. We all worked on a house together and met some of the families.
  • 3. More marriages might survive if the partners realized that sometimes the better comes after the worse.

5 Architecture

  • 1. What is being called the UN 'gender architecture' is more like a shack. Women need a bigger global house if equality is ever to become a reality.
  • 2. But those musics do not address the larger kind of architecture in time that classical music does whatever each one of us knows that classical music must mean.
  • 3. I believe that the way people live can be directed a little by architecture.
