  • 1. In this age of media and Internet access we are much more talkative than ever before.
  • 2. Everyone knows that by far the happiest and universally enjoyable age of man is the first. What is there about babies which makes us hug and kiss and fondle them so that even an enemy would give them help at that age?

2 Amazing

  • 1. A lot of people fear death because they think that so overwhelming an experience has to be painful but I've seen quite a few deaths and with one exception I've never known anyone to undergo anything like agony. That's amazing when you think about it. I mean how complicated the mechanism is that's being taken apart.
  • 2. Fame and stuff like that is all very cool but at the end of the day we're all human beings. Although what I do is incredibly surreal and fun and amazing and I'm really grateful for it I don't believe my own press release do you know what I mean?
  • 3. You get moments all the time that kind of make you pinch yourself some of them make you quite emotional. Winning a BRIT was a big moment because we were just so excited to be at the awards in the first place. Selling out Madison Square Garden was pretty amazing too. Then we woke to the news that our UK tour was sold out. It was crazy.

3 Anger

  • 1. I was a pretty angry kid and I got into military history largely as a way to vent my own anger. As I got older it narrowed down to a more specific focus on individual violence. I'm just trying to understand where it came from.
  • 2. Beware of him that is slow to anger for when it is long coming it is the stronger when it comes and the longer kept. Abused patience turns to fury.
  • 3. I've spent a lot of time and money trying to keep my anger in control.

4 Anniversary

  • 2. The chances of a reunion now are less likely. I was thinking of having a 40th anniversary of the band but now they are really another band so it's all a bit weird.
  • 3. As the third anniversary of the September 11th attacks draws near we must ensure our nation is prepared to handle the continued threat of violence and terrorism on our country.

5 Architecture

  • 1. In my experience if you have to keep the lavatory door shut by extending your left leg it's modern architecture.
  • 2. Any architectural project we do takes at least four or five years so increasingly there is a discrepancy between the acceleration of culture and the continuing slowness of architecture.
  • 3. Architecture is a slow business and city planning even slower.
