This is just what I have thought when I have seen slaves at work – they seem to go through the motions of labor without putting strength into them. They keep their powers in reserve for their own use at night perhaps.

The only reason I would stay away from a period piece is because sometimes the women are painted in a very stereotypical weakling wallflower way – that's something I don't want to do. I want to show strength in the women I play and a journey of some sort.

Death used to announce itself in the thick of life but now people drag on so long it sometimes seems that we are reaching the stage when we may have to announce ourselves to death. It is as though one needs a special strength to die and not a final weakness.

  • 1. Every time I see something terrible it's like I see it at age 19. I keep a freshness that way.

3 Anger

  • 2. We should meet abuse by forbearance. Human nature is so constituted that if we take absolutely no notice of anger or abuse the person indulging in it will soon weary of it and stop.
  • 3. Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Marriage is the most natural state of man and… the state in which you will find solid happiness.
  • 2. There is no more lovely friendly and charming relationship communion or company than a good marriage.
  • 3. I didn't make my first solo record until 1981 so I don't have any 60's or 70's recordings but I am working on a large boxed set called DUST to be released next year the 20th anniversary of my first solo record.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I love building spaces: architecture furniture all of it probably more than fashion. The development procedure is more tactile. It's about space and form and it's something you can share with other people.
  • 2. The two elements the traveler first captures in the big city are extra human architecture and furious rhythm. Geometry and anguish.
  • 3. Architecture and building is about how you get around the obstacles that are presented to you. That sometimes determines how successful you'll be: How good are you at going around obstacles?
