I think I'm fascinated by the power of religion in our culture. Like a lot of secular liberal people I ignored it for a long time. Lately of course just from a political perspective it's impossible to ignore.

  • 1. You can have a spiritual awakening and discover a new side of you at any age. And best of all love can happen at any age. Life can just start to get exciting when you're in your 40s and 50s. You have to believe that.

2 Amazing

3 Anger

  • 2. I feel there should have been some recognition of the Spice Girls at this year's 25th anniversary. We flew the flag for Britain around the globe in the 1990s and we achieved a hell of a lot.

5 Architecture

  • 1. The new architecture of transparency and lightness comes from Japan and Europe.
  • 2. It's my goal to make a building as immaterial as possible. Architecture is a very material thing. It takes a lot of resources so why not eliminate what you don't need as long as you're able to achieve the same result?
  • 3. Architecture begins where engineering ends.
