I think I'm fascinated by the power of religion in our culture. Like a lot of secular liberal people I ignored it for a long time. Lately of course just from a political perspective it's impossible to ignore.

When men take pleasure in feeling their minds elevated with strong drink and so indulge their appetite as to disorder their understandings neglect their duty as members of a family or civil society and cast off all regard to religion their case is much to be pitied.

2 Amazing

3 Anger

  • 1. I'm not as angry as I used to be. But I can get in touch with that anger pretty quickly if I feel my space is being invaded or somebody is not treating me with the respect that I think I want.
  • 2. You must never be satisfied with losing. You must get angry terribly angry about losing. But the mark of the good loser is that he takes his anger out on himself and not his victorious opponents or on his teammates.
  • 3. Anger will never disappear so long as thoughts of resentment are cherished in the mind. Anger will disappear just as soon as thoughts of resentment are forgotten.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Mom and Dad were married 64 years. And if you wondered what their secret was you could have asked the local florist – because every day Dad gave Mom a rose which he put on her bedside table. That's how she found out what happened on the day my father died – she went looking for him because that morning there was no rose.
  • 2. That there's no more important decision in life than who you marry.
  • 3. So I think you have to marry for the right reasons and marry the right person.
