  • 1. I can't look in the mirror and look at fake things. I just can't. I'd rather age.

2 Amazing

  • 1. It's amazing that something only an atom thick can be an impenetrable barrier. You can have gas on one side and vacuum or liquid on the other and with a wall only one atom thick nothing would go through it.
  • 2. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind amazing things will happen.
  • 3. The amount of control you have over somebody if you can monitor internet activity is amazing.

3 Anger

  • 1. People are always angry at America. They're absolutely certain that America either caused their problems or is deliberately not fixing their problems. But the anger is always directed at America and never at Americans.
  • 2. I'm fascinated by rap and by hip-hop. I think there's a lot of poetry in it. There's a lot of anger a lot of social energy in it. And I think you'd better listen to it pretty carefully 'cause it's important.
  • 3. I realized that if my thoughts immediately affect my body I should be careful about what I think. Now if I get angry I ask myself why I feel that way. If I can find the source of my anger I can turn that negative energy into something positive.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. I didn't make my first solo record until 1981 so I don't have any 60's or 70's recordings but I am working on a large boxed set called DUST to be released next year the 20th anniversary of my first solo record.
  • 2. My last trip to New Orleans was for the fifth anniversary of Katrina and I had the awesome opportunity to bring my family down. We all worked on a house together and met some of the families.
  • 3. So while an incredible amount of progress has been made on this fifth anniversary I wanted to come here and tell the people of this city directly: My administration is going to stand with you – and fight alongside you – until the job is done. Until New Orleans is all the way back all the way.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I see the Beijing National Stadium as an architectural project. I accepted Herzog and De Meuron's invitation to collaborate on the design and our proposal won the competition. From beginning to end I stayed with the project. I am committed to fostering relationships between a city and its architecture.
  • 2. The frightening thought that what you draw may become a building makes for reasoned lines.
  • 3. It is not with architecture that one can disseminate any political ideology.
