Let me read you some of my poetry. My poetry just takes me to another level.

The mystic purchases a moment of exhilaration with a lifetime of confusion and the confusion is infectious and destructive. It is confusing and destructive to try and explain anything in terms of anything else poetry in terms of psychology.

I don't look on poetry as closed works. I feel they're going on all the time in my head and I occasionally snip off a length.

1 Age

  • 1. I can feel the 60S looming. In my profession I've just moved along with my age. By thinking in decades rather than whether someone's 42 or 47 you can give yourself a whole 10 years to turn yourself around in.

2 Amazing

  • 1. Ted Danson is amazing. He's incredible.
  • 2. The human body and mind are tremendous forces that are continually amazing scientists and society. Therefore we have no choice but to keep an open mind as to what the human being can achieve.
  • 3. I'd do pretty much anything to get back on stage. I'd like to develop a new musical. I nearly had a heart attack when I heard that they're developing John Waters' Cry-Baby because that is so amazing and super and wonderful and I wish that I could be involved. But it's not the right time and I understand that. But I hear things like that and I get that little tingle in my stomach.

3 Anger

  • 1. Anger ventilated often hurries towards forgiveness anger concealed often hardens into revenge.
  • 2. The greatest remedy for anger is delay.
  • 3. With Stacy it was interesting because you know he was within all this chaos all these different lives that were so broken and so much anger and so much frustration and their skating came out of that their different styles came out of that.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. I feel there should have been some recognition of the Spice Girls at this year's 25th anniversary. We flew the flag for Britain around the globe in the 1990s and we achieved a hell of a lot.
  • 2. I have for some time urged that a nuclear abolition summit to mark the effective end of the nuclear era be convened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the 70th anniversary of the bombings of those cities with the participation of national leaders and representatives of global civil society.
  • 3. See the 'On the Road' that came out in 1957 was censored. A lot of the honesty of it the bitter honesty is in the original scroll version that came out in 2007 on the 50-year anniversary. Back then there was so much post-Second World War fear that was imposed on everybody – 'You must live life this way' – and these guys were bored.

5 Architecture

  • 1. What has happened to architecture since the second world war that the only passers-by who can contemplate it without pain are those equipped with a white stick and a dog?
  • 2. Architecture is the reaching out for the truth.
  • 3. I think architecture has to be a gift.
