Let me read you some of my poetry. My poetry just takes me to another level.

The mystic purchases a moment of exhilaration with a lifetime of confusion and the confusion is infectious and destructive. It is confusing and destructive to try and explain anything in terms of anything else poetry in terms of psychology.

I don't look on poetry as closed works. I feel they're going on all the time in my head and I occasionally snip off a length.

1 Age

  • 1. I avoid talking before the youth of the age as I would dancing before them: for if one's tongue don't move in the steps of the day and thinks to please by its old graces it is only an object of ridicule.
  • 2. I saw how many people were poor and how many kids my age went to school hungry in the morning which I don't think most of my contemporaries in racially segregated schools in the South thought very much about at the time.
  • 3. Why do people talk of the horrors of old age? It's great. I feel like a fine old car with the parts gradually wearing out but I'm not complaining … Those who find growing old terrible are people who haven't done what they wanted with their lives.

2 Amazing

  • 1. The last real movie stars were probably Redford and Newman. And things were different then. There wasn't this amazing amount of magazines and information about them.
  • 2. Moby Dick – that book is so amazing. I just realized that it starts with two characters meeting in bed that's how my book begins too but I hadn't noticed the parallel before two characters forced to share a bed reluctantly.
  • 3. Arnold Schwarzenegger I don't know if you'd call him a great actor but he's amazing in terms of his presence and he is interesting enough that you want to watch him.

3 Anger

  • 1. Our humor turns our anger into a fine art.
  • 2. Keep cool anger is not an argument.
  • 3. Somebody hits me I'm going to hit him back. Even if it does look like he hasn't eaten in a while.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Love is not weakness. It is strong. Only the sacrament of marriage can contain it.
  • 2. Last week the House of Representatives passed a resolution honoring the victims and heroes of September 11th. As we commemorate the anniversary of 9-11 we must also remember that the threat is still very real today.
  • 3. Under this window in stormy weather I marry this man and woman together Let none but Him who rules the thunder Put this man and woman asunder.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I feel however that we architects have a special duty and mission… (to contribute) to the socio-cultural development of architecture and urban planning.
  • 2. Architecture is about public space held by buildings.
  • 3. I've always liked traveling around Europe and seeing the architecture. The buildings in capital cities have been there for hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years. Some look better than the new ones.
