1 Age

  • 1. To write a story about New York that only deals with people in your age and socioeconomic bracket that feels dishonest to me. So much of New York comes from everyone bumping into each other.

  • 3. When you first have a baby your life doesn't change. I mean you have a little less sleep and you drag these cuddly things around you and it's just amazing. But you still get to be you. Once they get to like five six and school and it starts to get like 'Wow they got real problems. They're my responsibility.' Oh my God. That is overwhelming.

3 Anger

  • 1. The reason why I love people and writing about them is because they don't always respond with hate and anger. If they did I wouldn't have a story to tell. Who wants to know about someone who was brutalised and became brutal? I'm interested in the exceptions.
  • 2. You must never be satisfied with losing. You must get angry terribly angry about losing. But the mark of the good loser is that he takes his anger out on himself and not his victorious opponents or on his teammates.
  • 3. Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. I feel there should have been some recognition of the Spice Girls at this year's 25th anniversary. We flew the flag for Britain around the globe in the 1990s and we achieved a hell of a lot.
  • 2. One should believe in marriage as in the immortality of the soul.
  • 3. Mr. Speaker I rise today to recognize the Peace Corps as it reached its 45th anniversary on March 1 2006.

5 Architecture

  • 1. The terrifying and edible beauty of Art Nouveau architecture.
  • 2. Post-Modernism was a reaction against Modernism. It came quite early to music and literature and a little later to architecture. And I think it's still coming to computer science.
  • 3. I could be happy doing something like architecture. It would involve another couple of years of graduate school but that's what I studied in college. That's what I always wanted to do.
