On tour I'll get up at 5 p.m. and go to bed at 8 in the morning. With fishing it's the exact opposite. Fishing is the only healthy thing I do. Touring is such a grind it's the opposite of healthy.

1 Age

  • 1. An age which is incapable of poetry is incapable of any kind of literature except the cleverness of a decadence.
  • 2. I do think I feel it but you don't think you are cause at a certain time you are no age but you don't think you are anything. You feel the life you have lived. I feel that. It's been a long fifty years.
  • 3. I grew up on a farm in a small town where you do or say one thing and everybody knows about it. You see it happen there's always the town gossip – 'Oh did you hear about so and so or did you hear what went on in this household?' So I learned at a very young age just to keep my mouth shut.

2 Amazing

  • 1. With 'The Host ' I think the actors could be really big names. That would be cool. I'd love to see Robert Redford put on a beard and be Jeb he would be amazing… Matt Damon has some very Jared-esque qualities and then Casey Affleck as Ian and Ben Affleck as Kyle. Imagine the interplay.
  • 2. You will never cease to be the most amazed person on earth at what God has done for you on the inside.
  • 3. The amazing thing is that I'm sane. I'm not bitter. I'm not drugged out. I'm not broke. I'm still married to the same guy. My children don't hate me.

3 Anger

  • 1. The only justice is to follow the sincere intuition of the soul angry or gentle. Anger is just and pity is just but judgement is never just.
  • 2. Experiencing sadness and anger can make you feel more creative and by being creative you can get beyond your pain or negativity.
  • 3. I really believe that all of us have a lot of darkness in our souls. Anger rage fear sadness. I don't think that's only reserved for people who have horrible upbringings. I think it really exists and is part of the human condition. I think in the course of your life you figure out ways to deal with that.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Some people ask the secret of our long marriage. We take time to go to a restaurant two times a week. A little candlelight dinner soft music and dancing. She goes Tuesdays I go Fridays.
  • 2. One should believe in marriage as in the immortality of the soul.
  • 3. We are not the same persons this year as last nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we changing continue to love a changed person.

5 Architecture

  • 1. No architect troubled to design houses that suited people who were to live in them because that would have meant building a whole range of different houses. It was far cheaper and above all timesaving to make them identical.
  • 2. I take a lot from everywhere. I take from music architecture novels and plays. Anywhere that hits you.
  • 3. I got into this little habit of architecture and building. I designed a house in Colorado and one in Hawaii. The idea is supposed to be build and sell – but then I can never bring myself to sell them.
