  • 2. Good satire comes from anger. It comes from a sense of injustice that there are wrongs in the world that need to be fixed. And what better place to get that well of venom and outrage boiling than a newsroom because you're on the front lines.
  • 3. The nice thing about anger is that as an emotion it's strong enough to unplug me from the comedian's mind for a minute and just be a frustrated member of the citizenry.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. A lot of good love can happen in ten years.
  • 2. Strike an average between what a woman thinks of her husband a month before she marries him and what she thinks of him a year afterward and you will have the truth about him.
  • 3. Marriage is an alliance entered into by a man who can't sleep with the window shut and a woman who can't sleep with the window open.

5 Architecture

  • 1. I'm often called an old-fashioned modernist. But the modernists had the absurd idea that architecture could heal the world. That's impossible. And today nobody expects architects to have these grand visions any more.
  • 2. First there is the bare beauty of the logs themselves with their long lines and firm curves. Then there is the open charm felt of the structural features which are not hidden under plaster and ornament but are clearly revealed a charm felt in Japanese architecture.
  • 3. I don't know why I've always been so captivated by architecture.
