I am not opposed to intelligence reform on its face but any changes should reflect the current context.

  • 1. People until I was 60 would always say they thought I looked younger which I think without flattering myself I did but I think I certainly have as George Orwell says people do after a certain age the face they deserve.
  • 2. One already feels like an anachronism writing novels in the age of what-ever-this-is-the-age-of but touring to promote them feels doubly anachronistic. The marketplace is showing an increasing intolerance for the time-honored practice of printing information on paper and shipping it around the country.

2 Amazing

  • 1. In grade school I was taught that the United States is a melting pot. People from all over the world come here for freedom and to pursue a better life. They arrive with next to nothing work incredibly hard learn a new language and new customs and in a generation they become an integral part of our amazing nation.
  • 2. L.A. Woman is amazing but when I was growing up I was into the Who.
  • 3. Because I've made a film with such an amazing director as Tarantino I'm much more conscious of working with good directors from now on so that's what's important to me. I don't really care about making a big movie – I just want to make good ones.

3 Anger

  • 1. I understand Tea Partyers' anger with the system but they are in way over their heads and often racially motivated and I can't be part of that.

  • 3. Unless and until Barack Obama addresses the full depth of Americans' anger with his full arsenal of policy smarts and political gifts his presidency and worse our economy will be paralyzed.

4 Anniversary
