I am not opposed to intelligence reform on its face but any changes should reflect the current context.

  • 1. Aging is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength.

2 Amazing

3 Anger

  • 1. People are always angry at America. They're absolutely certain that America either caused their problems or is deliberately not fixing their problems. But the anger is always directed at America and never at Americans.
  • 2. I drank for about 25 years getting over the loss of my father and I took the anger out on myself. I did a good job at beating myself up at sometimes. I don't drink anymore but my alcoholic head occasionally says different. 'Nil By Mouth' was a love letter to my father because I needed to resolve some issues in order to be able to forgive him.
  • 3. Hatred is an affair of the heart contempt that of the head.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. The secret of a happy marriage is finding the right person. You know they're right if you love to be with them all the time.
  • 2. I didn't make my first solo record until 1981 so I don't have any 60's or 70's recordings but I am working on a large boxed set called DUST to be released next year the 20th anniversary of my first solo record.
  • 3. See the 'On the Road' that came out in 1957 was censored. A lot of the honesty of it the bitter honesty is in the original scroll version that came out in 2007 on the 50-year anniversary. Back then there was so much post-Second World War fear that was imposed on everybody – 'You must live life this way' – and these guys were bored.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Don't clap too hard – it's a very old building.
  • 2. You look at the steamboat the railroad the car the airplane – not all of these were invented in the Anglo-American world but they were popularized and extended by it. They were made possible by the financial architecture the capital intensive operations invented and developed by the Anglo-Americans.
  • 3. Great buildings that move the spirit have always been rare. In every case they are unique poetic products of the heart.
