  • 1. Why do people talk of the horrors of old age? It's great. I feel like a fine old car with the parts gradually wearing out but I'm not complaining … Those who find growing old terrible are people who haven't done what they wanted with their lives.
  • 2. If you love somebody you love them. My parents had a 25-year age gap between them and my mum was the breadwinner my dad the house husband. I'm a strong believer that a good relationship can work whatever the situation.
  • 3. After thirty a body has a mind of its own.

2 Amazing

  • 1. One thing that is almost always said to me is I grew up with you. They are meeting me and feel that they actually grew up with me. I was with them during their play hours and thinking hours. I was a part of their childhoods. That's one of the most amazing things.
  • 2. I'm from Naples. I was born in a poor neighborhood and I always in my heart felt like it would be amazing to be able to adopt a child from Naples. I could give someone the opportunity I had. I would love to give back in that way and pay it forward.
  • 3. At 13 when I was a runaway I was taken in by the most amazing drag queens in Portland Ore. We didn't always know where our next meal was coming from but there was so much camaraderie and love. Not to mention those girls could paint a face and I learned how because of them.

3 Anger

  • 1. Guilt is anger directed at ourselves – at what we did or did not do. Resentment is anger directed at others – at what they did or did not do.
  • 2. Anger is a wind which blows out the lamp of the mind.
  • 3. I was never jailed. The fact is that I was arrested but I went into a diversion programme and by that time I'd already begun working in what was called anger management. It was a painful and awful moment.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Both the Obama and Romney campaigns said they pulled all their political ads today in observance of the September 11th anniversary. But politics wasn't very far offstage. The Obama campaign sees foreign policy as an advantage this year.
  • 2. We are not the same persons this year as last nor are those we love. It is a happy chance if we changing continue to love a changed person.
  • 3. Mr. Speaker I rise today to recognize the Peace Corps as it reached its 45th anniversary on March 1 2006.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Italy is full of historical buildings. And Europe holds a great history of philosophy from Greece until today. I read all those books and see these buildings and I think of where I stand when I design my architecture.
  • 2. I studied architecture in New York. So really I was very moved like everyone else to try to contribute something that has that resonance and profundity of it means to all of us.
  • 3. Architecture will always express the technical and social progress of the country in which it is carried out. If we wish to give it the human content that it lacks we must participate in the political struggle.
