1 Age

  • 1. In the modern media age we are rarely surprised by what we see. Whether it's on television or film or in the theatre everything is so advertised so trailed that most entertainment is merely what you thought it was going to be like.
  • 2. Youngsters of the age of two and three are endowed with extraordinary strength. They can lift a dog twice their own weight and dump him into the bathtub.
  • 3. I think you can't really escape any kind of spiritual education as a child whether it's New Age or Judaism or Buddhism or whatever it is. You can't escape it even if you completely disagree with it you still have it as a foundation that you base things off of.

2 Amazing

  • 1. If government and media and all of us in the Australian tribe got together and the rock industry we'd just be the greatest cultural force the world has ever seen – we're such an amazing race.
  • 2. Strangely enough when the Sugababes' 'Freak Like Me' went to number 1 which was built around my 'Are 'Friends' Electric' song I had another song called 'Rip' go to number 1 in the Kerrang TV chart so I was pulling new people in from very different areas of musical interest. That was quite an amazing week.
  • 3. There is something about the South that accepts the supernatural. If you don't accept it and you're having a conversation with someone who does it's just one of those polite things where you don't question their belief in ghosts. You just go 'Oh yeah okay.' It's amazing to be able to have conversations like that.

3 Anger

  • 1. My therapist says I still haven't got in touch with my anger. Maybe one day I'm going to explode. But I'm still really happy. I know it looks like a strange and painful upbringing – all those experiences led me to the paths that I'm on now.
  • 2. Life is precious and there's not a lot of room for anger.
  • 3. There is not in nature a thing that makes man so deformed so beastly as doth intemperate anger.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. It was very hard for all of us. It's still very hard. The anniversary of his death just passed and every single one of his friends still after all these years… it's unbelievable.
  • 2. Each year on the anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birth America has the opportunity to reflect on our nation's progress towards the realization of his dream.
  • 3. It is a matter of public shame that while we have now commemorated our hundredth anniversary not one in every ten children attending Public schools throughout the colonies is acquainted with a single historical fact about Australia.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Until the Eighties Oslo was a rather boring town but it's changed a lot and is now much more cosmopolitan. If I go downtown I visit the harbour to see the tall ships and the ferries and to admire the modern architecture such as the Opera House or the new Astrup Fearnley Museum on the water's edge.
  • 2. Architecture in general is frozen music.
  • 3. There was an age however when the transition from savagery to civilization with all its impressive outward manifestations in art and architecture took place for the first time.
