  • 1. We are living in the machine age. For the first time in history the comedian has been compelled to supply himself with jokes and comedy material to compete with the machine. Whether he knows it or not the comedian is on a treadmill to oblivion.
  • 2. In a spiritually sensitive culture then it might well be that age is something to be admired or envied.
  • 3. To write a story about New York that only deals with people in your age and socioeconomic bracket that feels dishonest to me. So much of New York comes from everyone bumping into each other.

2 Amazing

  • 1. A lot of people fear death because they think that so overwhelming an experience has to be painful but I've seen quite a few deaths and with one exception I've never known anyone to undergo anything like agony. That's amazing when you think about it. I mean how complicated the mechanism is that's being taken apart.
  • 2. Every now and then I have blissful moments of thanking God for all the amazing things that are happening. When I leave the White House after just meeting Obama or when I see my face on the cover of 'Rolling Stone' or when I meet someone who tells me that their daughter is inspired by me those are moments that are incredibly joyful.
  • 3. Any day acting is an amazing day.

3 Anger

  • 1. A man that studieth revenge keeps his own wounds green.
  • 2. My recipe for dealing with anger and frustration: set the kitchen timer for twenty minutes cry rant and rave and at the sound of the bell simmer down and go about business as usual.
  • 3. If anger proceeds from a great cause it turns to fury if from a small cause it is peevishness and so is always either terrible or ridiculous.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. Since I wrote to you last we have got our chapel beautifully lighted with gas and have had our anniversary.

  • 3. A wedding anniversary is the celebration of love trust partnership tolerance and tenacity. The order varies for any given year.

5 Architecture

  • 1. Buildings should serve people not the other way around.
  • 2. The bungalow had more to do with how Americans live today than any other building that has gone remotely by the name of architecture in our history.
  • 3. Victorian architecture in the United States was copied straight from England.
