  • 1. It's the golden age of French cinema again but it's because Sarkozy had the guts to push through copyright law.

I never felt totally 100% patriotically English… I'd seen a lot of the world by an early age – sort of spent a lot of time traveling around Lebanon and I'd seen Babylon and Damascus and all sorts of places in the Middle East by the time I was ten. Then we'd return to Ruslip in West London… Done a fair bit of traveling really.

2 Amazing

  • 1. Twitter is the most amazing medium for a comedy writer. I can't get in every idea I want on the show no matter how hard I try to bully the other writers so it's a way of me getting out other comic ideas and immediately getting feedback.
  • 2. At first I missed it but it was the amazing energy thing that happened during shows when a lot of people were like Yay Yay Yeah! I missed that for a while. But I don't miss the regular and the business side of that whole thing.
  • 3. I think one of the coolest things about the job is the level of trust we have for each other. The actors fully trust that the writers will write amazing episodes and the writers trust that the actors will follow their instincts with the characters.

3 Anger

  • 1. On banks I make no apology for attacking spivs and gamblers who did more harm to the British economy than Bob Crow could achieve in his wildest Trotskyite fantasies while paying themselves outrageous bonuses underwritten by the taxpayer. There is much public anger about banks and it is well deserved.
  • 2. I think I'm basically the same guy I always was. Maybe I've learned through experience to rein in some of the anger and temper they say redheads normally have.
  • 3. Your anger is a gift.

4 Anniversary

  • 1. I didn't make my first solo record until 1981 so I don't have any 60's or 70's recordings but I am working on a large boxed set called DUST to be released next year the 20th anniversary of my first solo record.
  • 2. Married people from my generation are like an endangered species!
  • 3. On July 18 we will mark the 12th anniversary of the senseless loss of 85 lives in the bombing of the Jewish Cultural Center in Buenos Aires Argentina.

5 Architecture

  • 1. But I absolutely believe that architecture is a social activity that has to do with some sort of communication or places of interaction and that to change the environment is to change behaviour.
  • 2. The interior of the house personifies the private world the exterior of it is part of the outside world.
  • 3. Architecture is a art when one consciously or unconsciously creates aesthetic emotion in the atmosphere and when this environment produces well being.
